Valentines For Singles: How to Make The Most Out of The Most Romantic Holiday of The Year

The end of February is only a few days away, and this means that Valentine’s month will officially come to an end. This might be a sad day for some, as February could be the only time your boyfriend or girlfriend does anything significantly romantic for you, or you could be one of many overjoyed singles that are so happy the month of February is finally complete and you can finally stop sulking over the cute romantic gestures that couples are doing all around you. I, for one, will be one of those singles that has been down in the dumps this February without a significant other to give or get gifts from, and I am pretty happy that time has come to an end. The one thing that saddens me the most, and saddens other lonely people during the month of February is that I love the holiday, but that really seems to be a problem as I have no one to share this happiness with. I guess many of you have this same problem, so I have written a list of some things you can do to make the most of a fun holiday, even if you don’t have a significant other to spend it with.

The first thing you can do, and possibly the most obvious, hang out with your friends. Who better to hang out with during the month of love than your closest friends, especially when you are free of a relationship? During February and the week of Valentines day, it might seem that your friend who is in a relationship is spending most of their time with the person that they are in a relationship with, which leaves you with one less friend. This happens in every group of friends, and it is only fair that since your friend gets to spend all of their time with their boyfriend or girlfriend, you can spend that time with your other single friends! My strongest recommendation for making your single Valentine's day so much more exciting with you and your friends is to have a Galentine's party! For those of you wondering what exactly a Galentine’s party is, it is pretty much a Valentine day themed party for the girls. Guys could definitely do the same sort of thing you are up to. This is perfect for you and your friends to hang out as singles and have the time of your life! You have the Valentines of your dreams here if you do things like eat a bunch of chocolates and other Valentines-themed candies, baking a Valentines cake or cupcakes, watch a Valentines movie, and even exchange Valentines similar to a secret Santa exchange. A Galentine’s is the best way to turn your Valentines upside down with the people you love most.

Another idea for making the most out of Valentines as a single is to be your own Valentine. If someone isn’t there to love you on February 14th, you can do it to yourself; self-love is the best love, and you deserve all of it. I personally LOVE the candy that comes out during Valentine’s day, so if I were to give myself a Valentine I would stuff it with all the candy I can fit in my arms. You can also gift yourself a cute teddy bear or a stuffed cupid or really any Valentine’s day stuffed animal because who doesn't love soft and cuddly toys? Also, make sure to buy yourself some beautiful flowers; even though they don’t last long, they are most definitely worth the presentation alone. Finally, you need to end your self-valentine with a heartfelt card that makes sure to list all of your greatest aspects and why you deserve such a happy Valentine’s day. Once you have everything you want to give yourself, pack it up in a cute gift bag and hand it to…well… yourself! I guarantee you will enjoy a self-valentine much more than no Valentine during the month of February.

If you don’t have the time or money to be that elaborate for your Valentine’s day, you can always spend it in your room, watching your favorite romantic movie, or your favorite movie in general, surrounded by your favorite snacks and candies. The most important thing to remember during Valentine’s day as a single is that you deserve some relaxation and some pampering even if there isn’t someone else doing it for you. You should spend Valentines doing what you love, with the people you love, and if that's a Galentine’s party or just spending time with your cats, make the most of it, and you’re guaranteed to have a fun Valentine's even without a significant other to spend it with.
