Homecoming Dance

The Upper School will never forget Homecoming night. Football, Field Hockey, and Cross Country are part of this week-long event, but what makes it special is the dance. Faculty and students spent hours decorating Weaver Gym, selecting dresses, and dancing throughout the night. The ‘23 Homecoming dance was a night that Tower Hill won't forget anytime soon; let’s recap!

Everyone had been shopping for dresses, suits, and the proper shoes or heels before we ever arrived at Weaver Gym. Most students found the process of acquiring apparel to be exhilarating; "I visited over five stores," said freshman Molly Silvon. The process of finding the perfect outfit is a challenging feat, but it allowed everyone to display their sense of style with the colors, fabrics, and accessories they chose, as well as the small nuances they contributed to their clothes. Whether you were like me and bought a suit two hours before Homecoming, or you spent months looking for the perfect clothing, everyone desires to look nothing short of perfect on Homecoming night.

Weaver Gym was decorated to the desires of the students. Two photo booths were located inside the gym, and Mrs. Douglass was taking pictures with her Polaroid all night. There was also a variety of props to choose from, such as “he’s a freshman,” “pics or hoco didn’t happen,” and a variety of other hilarious sayings bringing everyone to a burst of laughter, and making the pictures so memorable. The lighting on the dance floor added a glamorous touch, and even though we couldn't see each other in the darkness, everyone found it exhilarating at the moment. The compilations of music were also chosen by students via a Google form sent out weeks before Homecoming. While some were songs you listen to on a daily basis and others were from a long time ago, the range of song choices proved to be a mix of memories old and new.

We won't forget the memories we made at the Homecoming dance as we graduate high school and become part of society's never-ending cycle. From hours of dress shopping to bringing home polaroids of ‘the friend group,’ this is the only dance before prom where you may make memories to take to college and beyond. Whether you came to Homecoming because everyone else was or because you wanted to help with the setup, the memories made at the Homecoming dance are some of the best you will ever have.
