Chat GPT

Chat GPT, the cutting-edge AI language model developed by OpenAI, has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with technology and each other. Its ability to generate human-like responses to users' questions in real-time opens up a world of possibilities, from improving customer service to advancing scientific research.

Beyond those applications, Chat GPT can also be used to automate a wide range of tasks, freeing up human resources to focus on more complex and creative tasks. For example, Chat GPT can be used to analyze and summarize research papers, write news articles, or even generate creative writing.

However, like any technological advancement, Chat GPT also raises some concerns. Some worry that the use of AI language models could lead to the displacement of human jobs. Others worry about the potential for AI to be used for malicious purposes, such as the spread of misinformation or the development of AI-powered weapons.

Despite these concerns, the potential benefits of Chat GPT and other AI language models cannot be ignored. From improving customer service to advancing scientific research, Chat GPT has the potential to make a significant impact on the world, and we can only imagine what the future holds for this groundbreaking technology.

As you may have guessed, that text above was generated by Chat GPT, an AI model that has taken off recently for its incredible text generation capabilities.

Honestly, I'm both surprised and creeped out by how realistic and human Chat GPT sounds. It makes me worry about the potential implications of this technology.

Although there are benefits to Chat GPT, the fact that it can generate such human-like responses raises concerns about possible abuses of the technology. As Chat GPT becomes even more sophisticated, it might get harder to tell whether the text is generated by humans or AI. This could cause major problems for online security, fraud prevention, and even scholarly research.

As AI technology continues to advance, we need to consider both the risks and benefits. While Chat GPT does have its upsides, it's essential that we take steps to mitigate the risks and use this technology ethically and responsibly.

What you almost certainly didn’t guess is that those paragraphs were also generated entirely by Chat GPT.

As someone who is not remotely familiar with programming, it took me almost no effort to generate those passages. My first prompt was simply write an article about Chat GPT. Once the text was generated, which took less than a minute, I just asked the program write a casual response from a person skeptical of AI, and it spit out the second passage just as quickly.

And Chat GPT isn’t only good for writing articles on itself. The program could accurately summarize historical events, explain the themes of famous books, and solve simple math problems. It was even able to have a conversation with me in Spanish while correcting any grammatical errors I made.

But now came the ultimate test: a physics lab. I patiently typed out the problem I was trying to solve and gave the program all of the data I collected in class. And it was wrong. By a lot.

So I explained to the program what it had done wrong. It generated a new response, but it was still nowhere close to the correct answer. After clarifying the problem several times and reentering the data, it still wasn’t able to get a percent error under 10%.

Chat GPT is an incredibly advanced program, and its implications for the future are both exciting and terrifying. However, I can definitely take comfort in knowing that even the most powerful AI can still fail high school physics.

As for anyone looking to capitalize on this technology for your own schoolwork, I’d caution against it. Not only is it against Tower Hill’s honor code to use AI as an aid, it’s also incredibly easy to detect. While humans might have trouble telling Chat GPT’s writing apart from a real person’s, OpenAI’s AI Text Classifier can quickly determine how likely it is that a passage was AI generated.
